SINGAPORE: Ever heard of fortune cookies?
They're little treats that contain tiny slips of paper with prophetic messages written on them.
Well, shops in Singapore have begun selling fortune "eggs". Somewhat similar in principle to fortune cookies, these "eggs" supposedly hold winning 4-D numbers.
Posters advertising this product have begun appearing in stores near betting centres, and the number "6645" shown on these posters has been drawn as a winning number twice.
The company behind the 4-D fortune "eggs" has hired local artiste and model Huang Xiaoli as its spokesperson in Singapore and Malaysia.
According to reports, the very first batch of these "eggs" which cost S$6.80 (about RM15.64) have already been sold out.
Getting the winning number from a fortune "egg" is a slightly more complicated process compared to simply breaking open a fortune cookie.
Below is a short list of instructions on how to care for a fortune "egg":
1. Crack open the top of the "egg" shell
2. Fill the inside of the "egg" with water
3. Add a spoonful of water to the "egg" on a daily basis
4. 7-10 days later, the "egg" should begin to bud and grow into a small plant. A row of numbers will appear on the outside of the fruit.
5. With sufficient water and sunlight, the plant will live for several months.
