LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES: A 76-year-old woman was found alive after being stranded for two weeks in a remote mountain region of Oregon, police in the northwestern US state said Friday (September 7th).
Doris Anderson went missing on August 24 after becoming separated from her 75-year-old husband Harold when their truck broke down during a hunting trip, miles from civilization.
The woman had been given up for dead after a fruitless two-week search, with a memorial service reportedly planned for this weekend.
However a statement from Baker County Sheriff's said Anderson was found on Thursday (September 6th) in a steep canyon, suffering from a hip injury and dehydration.
Rescuers said she was alert and conscious when found.
Harold Anderson told the Oregonian newspaper he had believed his wife had perished. "I thought my wife was dead," Anderson said. "It's a living miracle, it has to be."
