A blogger found it interesting and thus, recorded and uploaded her jingles on Youtube with the title: Lorong Selamat Bak Hu Aunty. The videos has attracted a lot of viewers and they were even converted into ringtones and spread around.

The "Lorong Selamat Bak Hu Aunty" who is so popular on the Internet sells pork floss at a Lorong Selamat.

You can easily find audio or video clips of “Bak Hu aunty” by typing in keywords “Penang Lorong Selamat Bak Hu Aunty”on search engines. Everyone wants to promote her humour and some of them even name her jingles "The Bak Hu Rap". The total views of her videos hit over 5,000 times.

Lorong Selamat Bak Hu Aunty Mo Zexuan,53, insisted to be called “ke ai (cutety)” as the nickname has become her image.

She told Guang Ming Daily that she likes jingles very much. She enjoys making people laugh by using jingles in her daily life. It can also make her sales better.

Mo found that people usually resist peddlers as they think that they must buy the product once they have tried it.

Thus, she always asks her customers to try her pork floss before she comes out with a jingle, asking them not to worry about being forced to buy it after they have tried.

Mo used to be a wedding etiquette guide ten years ago. Then, she became a vendor selling Hokkien noodles, curry noodles, and grilled fish. She started to sell pork floss at Lorong Selamat five years ago and found it most suitable for her.

She is famous because of her eloquence. Some people invited her to become a wedding etiquette guide again, but she rejected because she enjoys her life now.

She got divorced many years ago and both of her son and daughter have grown up now. She is currently single and she loves to make friends with everyone.

"Although I don't look like a business owner, I had appeared on Astro for twice."

Mo said that although she is now a middle-aged woman and only owns a small stall, a lot of people appreciated her and offer her chances to appear on TV programmes. She is glad that her jingles bring her the unexpected popularity. (Translated by YOU HSUEH LIN/ Guang Ming Daily)
