KLANG, SELANGOR: In order to reduce environmental pollution, Selangor government is going to make Saturday the “no plastic bag day” starting next year. Coincidentally, the Christmas theme for AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre this year was environmental protection. The mall was decorated with more than 1,5000 recyclable bottles, plastic bags and egg cartons, creating a “green Christmas” for its shoppers.

Recyclable bottles and plastic bags were used to make three Christmas trees, including a 15-ft giant one. In addition, egg cartons were used to make lovely snowmen, snow and Christmas trees.

The mall was also filled with environmental protection signs and banners to educate the shoppers while creating the festive atmosphere.

The trees were astonishing and many shoppers never expected that recyclable materials could be so magnificent after decorated with lights. Therefore, many of them took photos with the trees. Even elders and housewives who were usually busy with shopping have started to concern about environmental protection issue. (Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/ Guang Ming Daily)
