World's Largest Penis Monument

CHINA: Some tourists aren't amused by the 30-foot tall erect penis built in an amusement theme park in China.

The rampant structure is named "Sky Pillar" and is wrapped by more than 6,500 feet of straw around a steel core. It stands proudly atop the 1250 foot high Qinlong Hill.

Longwan Shaman Amusement Park in Changchun city claims that the structure is the world's largest penis monument.

Park president Cheng Weiguang said the totem was from a Shamanistic culture which originated in the city.

Legend goes that a Shaman named Ewenki had vanquished a cruel female ruler and gave her a penis totem to remind her to respect males and not kill them at will.

After this, the ruler set a penis totem on top of the hill, reports East Asia Economic and Trade News.

Shi Lixue, director of the China Folk Culture Association, backed the project, saying: "It symbolises our ancestors' pursuit of happiness and prosperity."

However, some tourists said they were uncomfortable about it, while others felt that it did not make a difference at all.

"It's just a pillar. I don't care. It can be a symbol of the park," said one mother who was visiting the park with her child.
