KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian fans of the English Premier League soccer clubs are not less enthusiastic compared to English fans.

Two soccer fans who support Manchester United and Arsenal have modified their cars in a Manchester United and Arsenal theme respectively.

Network engineer Muhammad Zahid Malim, 28, modified his Proton Gen-2 in a Manchester United theme. The body of the car and all accessories, including the car seats and steering wheels were painted in red and black.

In his opinion, since some people display the names of performance teams on their cars, he can also do the same as he really likes Manchester United.

Muhammad Zahid spent two to three years to turn his car into a Red Devils car.

Also, he spent about RM5,000 to decorate his car and some of the accessories were specially ordered.

In order to keep himself up to date, he joined the local community of Manchester United fans and Gen-2 through www.mymanutd.com and www.Gen2Club.com.

Arsenal Football Club Supporters Malaysia (AFCSM) founder K. Anand also modified his Mazda Lantis in an Arsenal theme.

He said that he has been an Arsenal fan since he was 10 and he has been supporting the team for 30 years.

He said that he is actually doing his best in promoting the team and thus, he put it on his car.

He put the Arsenal logo air-brushed onto his car about six years ago. He insists to keep it simple without any other design on it as he thinks Arsenal is the best.

He clearly remembers that he put on the logo in Dec 2003, which was also the season when Arsenal won unbeaten in the English Premier League.

He said that although his family members are Manchester United's supporters, it does not affect his support to Arsenal.

He keeps in touch with other Arsenal fans through www.arsenalmy.com. (Translated by YOU HSUEH LIN/ Sin Chew Daily)
