BERLIN, March 12 (AFP) - A cow in Germany sparked a major police operation on Friday after escaping from a slaughterhouse, charging with horns lowered at police cars and passersby.
Inhabitants in the city of Bochum in western Germany were forced to take refuge in doorways as police tried for around an hour to corner the rampaging dairy cow with patrol cars, police said.
Abattoir employees tried to catch the cow with ropes and in the end police were forced to shoot the animal after it got too close to a busy railway line, a statement said.
