ALOR SETAR: In order to fulfil the last wish of possessing a Grand Prix motorcycle of their deceased friend, a group of friends asked the master of making paper offering to make a paper GP motorcycle so that they could burn it for their friend.

The person in charge, Li Chengzhang, 28, told Guang Ming Daily that he received an order at 2pm on 9 July 2010. The client wished to get the paper offering at the night on the next day because it was the last night of the funeral.

He said that those friends wanted to burn the paper GP motorcycle for their friend. They hoped that their deceased friend was able to receive it.

"Our shop made paper sports car and heavy motorcycle before, but we never made a GP motorcycle. However, I accepted the order to fulfil the last wish of the deceased."

Li said that according to the client, the deceased was a man about 30 years old. He was sent to the General Hospital because of angina and died. When he was alive, he loved GP motorcycle. He had told his friends that he hoped to possess a GP motorcycle when he died.

"This mission was done by my two younger brothers, Li Chengan, 26, Li Chengliang, 23 and me. We had spent one and a half day to finish it."

Li Chengan said that after his brother accepted the order, they started to search the information about GP motorcycle online. Then they drew the structure of a GP motorcycle and started working on it at about 4pm.

"Everything was difficult at the beginning. Therefore, they started with the framework of the GP motorcycle. The structure of the framework was complicated and it was very difficult to do. After we set up the framework, the other parts were getting easier."

Including the width, height and engine of the paper GP motorcycle were made as vivid as a model. Some parts of the paper GP motorcycle were so real. The seat cushion was filled with cotton and the hand brakes could flip automatically.

"The main colour of the paper GP motorcycle is black and yellow. The plate number of the motorcycle is the plate number of the deceased man's car. As the time was limited, the dashboard and the light could only be made with printed picture."

He told Guang Ming Daily that they started working at 4pm until 2am on that day. Then they started again at 7am the next day. They finished their work at about 4pm.

Li Chengan said that they only scored 80 marks for their work as the time was limited. Some parts of the paper GP motorcycle were not perfect. He hoped the client would accept it.

He also wished to receive more challenging paper offering works, such as paper aeroplane and paper tank.

"We cannot simply make unique paper offerings such as paper aeroplane and paper tank at because it is not easy to sell them and they need a lot of space. If they are not sold, the colour will fade away," he added.
